Here are some sites didn't really fit into the other catagories. Plus, some sites
only loosely related to tokens, but I thought might be of interest to some token
for Creative Anachronism (SCA) for a while was using hand-struck coins
as currency. As far as I know this is no longer being done officially, but
there are many members striking coins for specific events and uses. Link is
to a Word doc that lists a few dozen of these coins/tokens.
Moneyer's Guild - Facebook group for SCA people who are making dies
and striking their own medieval-style coins.
- Shire Post
Mint started with a bunch of Tolkein-inspired designs, using somewhat
crude handmade dies. Both quality and selection have increased over the years,
and they now have a large number of high quality fantasy-insprired "coins"
including the officially licenced "Game of Thrones" coins.
- Grunal Moneta make medieval-style
hammered "coins" from handmade dies. Sells some "standard"
coins, and also makes custom dies.
- Play Money Lots of scans of
various types of play money, by Richard and Wendy Clothier. Page takes a while
to load, and would benefit from some information about the items, but worth
checking out! Richard has written a 52-page listing of play money "Play Money
of American Children" which I strongly recommend to anyone interested in play
money (page scans are available on the web page).
- NY Subway
general information about the New York Subway system. Used to have information
on NYC subway tokens, may still have but there are no obvious links. Just
about anything else you might want to know about the NY Subway system.
Casino chip/token page - lots of info!
- Casino Chips - lots of
information about these.
